Take a moment to congratulate yourself
#36 - Life got all "lifey" on you, but you didn't break, and you're still here.
“Life Moves Pretty Fast. If You Don't Stop And Look Around Once In A While, You Could Miss It.”
—Ferris Bueller
This Week’s Concept:
Mr. Bueller's words ring true. Life does move pretty fast, and in these days of hyper connection it feels like it is moving faster than ever.
There are a plethora of characters in a mad dash grabbing for your attention at all times.
Marketers bombard you daily with unhealthy amounts of distracting information on social media and television.
Heck, I pimp myself in your newsfeed every Wednesday in an effort to reel you in for a few minutes to read these articles ;-P
But if you don't choose to periodically slow down to reflect on how the events of your life molded you into the hue-man you are today, your mind will experience the detrimental effects of overstimulation.
And overstimulation will trap you in thought loops that lead you nowhere but to the same places you have already been over and again.
Let us now try something together that will silence the distractions clawing for our attention. We are going to let go of everything else to relax into the present moment to see how it feels.
Right now, take a nice big breath with me. Let the tension out of your face and shoulders, and feel how nice it feels to relax and expand into this "now moment".
In this moment, allow yourself to let go of anything else you were feeling worried about today. Nothing else matters right now except for your breath.
In this moment you are content in your breath, and you are grateful to feel the soft peace that envelopes you.
In this moment you are calm. You are relaxed. And you are now truly present.
Ahhhhh. Feels good, yeah?
Sit within your calm for a few more moments and savor it. You deserve to feel this peace and relief right now, because you just did the work to create this serene feeling for yourself.
And all it took was a few breaths
Now, let’s think about something together:
I trust you can easily remember many moments in your life that you did not think you would survive. Right?
Moments that were so intense and so painful, you thought they might consume you whole or break your heart into thousands of tiny shards which would be impossible to stitch back together.
But guess what, my friend?
They did not.
You triumphed by carrying yourself through those moments.
And you are still here.
Congratulations. You are doing it. You are living your life, and you are still growing stronger by the day after all these years.
Each one of those pivotal moments whose difficulty seemed to last an eternity while they were happening are now behind you.
And here is the most interesting thing about those pivotal moments. Even though they felt like hell to go through at the time, you are a now a wiser person with more electrifying life experience under your belt because they happened.
Your current perspective would not be what it is today if it were not for those moments.
Those treacherous moments forged you into a hue-man who is now better able to handle whatever comes next.
Give yourself some credit, would you? You made it through whatever it was. And that took resiliency, didn't it?
You have shown yourself you can handle whatever comes your way while learning from your experience.
You transmuted your galvanizing experience into wisdom that grew you into a more capable version of yourself.
That is commendable work you did, my dear friend. You are a modern day Alchemist.
Don’t forget to say “thank you” to the force of life that provided the experience which made you stronger.
In life it is important to check in with yourself from time to time.
You must remember where you have been, and what you have learned along the way, because each of those lessons is necessary to build your mind, heart, and spirit to experience the lessons that will follow.
And, you can be sure that some new event will eventually occur to test your evolved nature, because you are still here playing the game of life.
Consider this.
When you run into your friend on the street and they ask you how you are doing, what do you tell them?
You say something like, "I am well". Or, "I am pretty tired from a hard workout I did today."
The first thing you describe when someone asks you how you are doing is how you are feeling in that moment.
You are a Hue-Man BEing. You build your mental and physical state of being in each moment based on how you feel.
When you feel well, you radiate that wellness to everyone you meet, gifting them a piece of it.
When you feel well you lead by example, and your energy and actions show the others how to create feelings of wellness for themselves.
As we covered in a previous article, the hue-man mind is a time travel device. When you use your precious thought energy to re-live traumatic events you experienced in the past, you consciously re-create those feelings now.
Since how you are is how you feel, the past is only the past when you put it behind you. If you did not like how you felt back then, yet you can feel the same feelings now, what does that tell you?
One of life's greatest secrets is that in order to attain what you wish to manifest for yourself in the future, you will need to embody that feeling now.
If you feel gratitude in this now moment for every experience and every thing you have, then that is the signal you send to the force of Consciousness that you are ready for new experiences to continue growing through.
But if you do not feel grateful for what you have, and you consciously spiral yourself through thought loops recreating the traumas of the past, they will continue to perpetually happen over and over for you until you learn to break the cycle.
We will dive further into how to use the Power of Awareness in the article that comes out on Wednesday 9.28.22. So be sure to keep joining us here each week.
This Week's Daily Practice:
Each day this week we are taking a few moments to consciously invoke gratitude for everything we have. For all the experience we gained along the path we walk.
We will take a few breaths like we did earlier to relax into the present moment to invite the feeling of gratitude to bloom within.
Each day we will use this "gratitude time" to remind ourselves how Mother Nature teaches us that growth takes patient daily effort.
When we find ourselves wishing for results faster than we are getting them, we will remember that the whole of the oak is contained within the acorn, but the tree does not grow from its seed in a day.
Unless, of course, you are hanging out with Totoro ;-P
Author's Note:
We are updating how we do things here on T.H.E.
Thank you to my dear readers for being here each week. I am pleased to see how this community is growing together, and I am grateful for the feedback you continue to share.
Up until this point The Hue-Man Experience has offered a total of four to five weekly articles per month for everyone to read for free.
Some subscribers have chosen to invest not only their time and attention, but financially in the creation of this work through paid subscriptions.
But up until this point, paid subscribers have not received any special perks in return to say, "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT".
I believe the people who have invested the price of a half sandwich each month are the ones who are getting the most out of this publication, and they should receive perks for their ongoing support.
From this point forward we are evolving how this publication distributes articles.
Starting on Wednesday 9.28.22, two articles per month will be free for everyone to read, and two or three articles per month will be available to only paid subscribers.
The archive from the beginning of this project up to next week’s article will remain free for everyone to access forever as it serves as a foundation for the material that follows.
This is our way of saying THANK YOU for your ongoing support, and for being willing to make a small monthly investment in growing together.
We are working on more perks for paid subscribers as well, so please pick a paid plan and tune back in on the 28th to receive your first exclusive article with a new perk attached inside.
If you truly can not afford a paid subscription and wish to have access to each article to continue your weekly practice, please email me at huemanbeingwrites@gmail.com and I will gift you a paid subscription.
See you all next week on the 21st with a heartfelt article commemorating the 3 year anniversary of my dog Tucker’s passing. The tears are already welling up as I think about the message he would like to share with you.
And Lastly:
If you are new here, you might be asking yourself, “who the heck is this guy, Hue-Man?” Start at post #1 to read my story.
And please remember, I am not your guru, you are :)
Take my money!!! Appreciate your weekly content, brother. It helps me stay centered and in a state of perpetual wonderful gratitude.
Another series of beautiful words and meaning making! Thank you. This week I'm going through a heck of a lot. Being in the present moment and having authentic gratitude for the challenges, is really where it's at! I can't echo the importance of it enough.
Believing/realizing that everything is happening in my life for me has taken the sting out of my choices. Yes I try to make the best choices in my life, but the real height of my connection in this reality is when "life lives through me," rather than the other way around. When I open up to become a co-creator and observer of my natural movements, speech, expressions of love.
This week, with the support of your reminding words, I'll make it through the challenges. I'll be strong AND vulnerable. I'll hold the faith that every experience I've had up to this point gives me exactly what I need to experience the future with grace and enthusiasm. The most important thing is to be gentle and loving with myself when I inevitably sink into the darkness of self-doubt and temporary madness.
