Everyone is Weird When They Are Alone
#5 - We all know you do weird stuff when nobody is looking. And we do it too.
“What we call reality is, in fact, nothing more than a culturally sanctioned and linguistically reinforced hallucination.”
- Terence McKenna
Let’s be real here. You, me, and everyone else is a total weirdo when we feel we are safely alone with no one else watching. Behind closed doors only Consciousness itself knows what we do, and it is my opinion that our weirdness should be embraced because many things that we choose to define as “weird” are actually the things that make us unique. Buuuuuuut when we are too busy judging ourselves to own those unique qualities, are we truly living authentically?
If I still thought that the subject of Consciousness was “too weird for people to understand”, then I would not be here writing about it each week, because I would be afraid of the judgement of others when it came time to publish these ideas.
I was browsing twitter one morning and had a good laugh when I stumbled upon the screenshot shown below. Honestly, who doesn’t do stuff like this from time to time? I know I am certainly weird enough to goblin-walk around my house while presenting various trinkets to my dog for his approval... and, heck, perhaps I will actually try this because it sounds like fun! 🤣 I already give my pup wacky nicknames and talk to him in detail about what the Human Experience in the third dimension is like, because it is my job to help him arrive prepared once it’s his turn. We are all moving up the evolutionary ladder of consciousness here - not just humans.
I do strange dances, make strange voices, sing to the wind, talk with my Ancestors, leave wild voicemails as various improvised characters, and grunt like a caveman as well. My inner child is alive and well, and all of these activities are highly entertaining to him, what can I say. 😇 When one can entertain themselves in childish ways, they never get bored.
As I’ve grown in life experience, my perceptions of myself have greatly evolved, and I have come to earnestly love and embrace the weirdo that I am, allowing him to shine through to the others. Through this I have discovered that the more authentically me I become, the more magical life becomes in response. Action > Re-Action. Eckstein gets it.
Ultimately, what we judge to be “weird” is up to us at an individual level, and the calculation of how we will act around ourselves versus around others happens within our own minds before we leave our nests of safety each day. It’s an ongoing process, and each day we choose how we will be, based on what we believe. How many of us are being truly authentic, or at least close to it? What would life look like if we let go of our self-judgements to be how we truly are, always?
It’s not my job or desire to judge you and what you do for any reason. Only you can know who and how you are being when in the presence of others, and whether or not you are presenting the authentic “you”. I’m honored to be in your life either way, and please know that I root for you every day when I sit within the silence. «ॐ» We are all in this together.
I believe that every single person is unique due to their unique perspective in which they synthesize their life experience to give meaning to the world, and I believe that every single person is a weirdo at some level because it is built right into our humanity and the experience of life itself.
Life is truly a WEIRD experience - Consciousness provides the Force of Life to billions of different looking meat suits which are full of bones, blood, and sphincters. It animates our bodies temporarily so we can all move around and play in the physical realm, hopefully learning a few things about ourself while we are at it. And on top of that, we live on a living planet that is spinning around a giant ball of fire while we travel together through an infinite vacuum towards a black hole. That’s pretty weird, my friend. Right?
What in the actual FFFFFFF is life? What is this experience that is happening every day, how did it originally come to be, and why aren’t more of us openly talking about this? Is it really that scary to confront? What came before it, and what comes after it? How can we explain any of this or completely understand it while we are here in our bodies with no memory of what came before?
But more importantly, how can we embrace life while we have it here and now? We are all here on Earth in bodies that are currently alive, so perhaps our main goal here is to live. Only you will ever know if you are truly living or not, and let’s be real, you always know. As McKenna said, this is probably all a hallucination anyway, so what do you want to learn from it?
If the experience of life is a hallucination or something of a dream, then what does that ultimately mean? Well, that is a pretty big question and it is ultimately up to you to decide. Perhaps in the meantime, by letting your authentically weird self shine brightly as you live, you will discover a whole new world full of inexplicably synchronous alignment that is eager and ready to guide your true self higher and higher in your own evolution. Perhaps true well-being only comes from alignment. How badly do you want it? What are you willing to sacrifice to get it?
Big questions, yes. But life only gives us what we can handle and learn from. Consciousness is a Pronoic force, and it wants us all to win.
This week’s Practice brings us yet again to our observational power. Observe yourself and how you are at home when you are alone. What do you do within the safety of your own home that you never ever do around other people, besides goblin walking? Have you dug to the essence of why you behave like this? What would it look like to let other folks in to see your weird, unique, and authentic self? How do you think life would respond if you were to “go for it” and live more authentically? Think about this whenever you observe yourself doing one of those “isolation only” things.
Something that works for me: I find that keeping a journal is a very helpful way to get my ideas about life and who I am out of my head and onto a piece of paper so they can examine me as I examine them. Once I see my ideas looking back at me, they become “real” and are no longer just stories in my head that cause me to overthink. Facing them head on forces me to form a stance on what I actually believe.
My journal also helps me to remember the things I was thinking about in various times of my life that I have since forgotten as new experiences are built. As I grow and evolve, I can look back from each crossroads on my path to see my old self and how he thought, while removing my ability to allow him to hide out in the caverns of my mind, only to resurface in the future.

If you made it this far, I give my sincere thanks for being one of my cherished and highly engaged readers. If you are one of the folks that gives me actual money to write these things, you must know by now how truly wonderful you are, and how deeply I appreciate the fact that you help me pay my bills though this work. I thank you deeply for your support and always welcome your feedback.
Drop a <3 below to help me grow this thing, and hit me up in the comments to tell me what a weirdo you are.
If you want to start at the beginning - Who is this guy I am reading anyway?

You're not weird or alone in being weird alone :)
