“Because of all the routines we follow, we often forget that life is an ongoing adventure… and the sooner we realize that, the quicker we will be able to treat life as art: to bring all our energies to each encounter, to remain flexible enough to notice and admit when what we expected to happen did not happen. We need to remember that we are created creative and can invent new scenarios as frequently as they are needed.” — Maya Angelou
In my last post I made a comment that, “whatever we believe to be ‘real’ is what becomes our reality”. That’s a big statement to make and it has wild implications, I know. So let us think about it together.
Before we get into this, I’d like to ask you to take a “Five Breath Break” with me. In this moment, for the time it takes to draw five breaths, we are going to let go of every single thing happening in our lives to focus only on the act of the breath, with a quiet mind. We draw in steadily through the nose until our lungs are full, pause for a brief moment, and then out of our thinly-slitted mouths until we are empty. Breathing rhythmically with a straight spine, we want our in-breath to be of the same size as our out-breath.
Let’s try this now…
Whoa, I feel much more like myself again. How did that make you feel? Leave a comment below this newsletter, or send me and email if you want to share your experience. Keep going further into your breath if the lingering feelings are drawing you back in, and come back to read more later. Your breathing time always comes first.

Now, if you’re still with me, let’s get into it…
Life can be very confusing at times, and it is important to remember that none of us received an instruction manual for “how to live” upon birth here on Earth. As a Human Being, we have the gift of Free Will, which is essentially the ability to think, believe, and do anything we want to. The key here is that we have a choice when it comes to every single decision we make in life, no matter how big or small. We, as the conscious individual, are “actors”, and we make choices about how to “act” given whatever circumstance we are in. Then, the natural byproduct of our action is to receive the “re-action” from our environment. At our core, we humans are “choice makers”, and the beliefs we hold are always at the center of each choice we make, whether we are consciously aware of their interplay or not. Our beliefs cause us to think in “limitless” or “limited” ways, and our thinking informs our actions. Every. Single. Time.
It’s easy to allow ourselves to only feel the Religious connotation when someone says something like, “are you a believer?” The words “believe”, “faith”, and “trust”, are core themes in all Religions, yes. However, no matter what you believe, I ask you not to limit your thinking just because a word set off a re-action your brain in a way that did not immediately feel comfortable. If you are alive and in a body on Earth at this time, I would suggest that you are practicing acts of unwavering belief and trust every single day, even if this concept seems strange at first.
Human beings are bipedal life-forms that move about our environment using limbs, the perfect natural tool for the locomotion of matter-based conscious life-forms. The thing is that it takes balance, coordination, strength, belief, and trust to use our limbs to move from Point A to Point B, every single time.
As adults, how often to we stop to think about this? Every single step we take must be preceded by a deeply rooted belief that “we will not fall flat on our faces if we place our foot one step ahead while throwing the weight of our entire body onto it”. This belief is coupled with a trust in ourselves that we can continue repeating the action to travel across the land unharmed by the process. These forms of belief and trust are so unshakably strong that we don’t even consciously have to think about each step we take after enough experience is built.
How tiring would it be to walk down the street if we had to consciously perform the act of “stepping” each time? Once our belief and trust in our ability to walk / run / dance has been developed by years of direct experience, those processes become as automatic and natural to us as chewing our food, using the restroom, smiling, laughing, and crying.
A big shoutout to the subconscious for automating so many processes for us, so we can use our minds to actually experience life. Our time in the body would look and feel a lot different if we had to consciously beat our own hearts. How would sleep even be possible if our heartbeats were not automated?
But the baby above, a new life form just getting started here in the “Earth Game”, hasn’t yet built the experience points needed to believe and trust in her ability to walk. We see her take a step, lose balance, and then become unsure of herself while bobbling up and down. She’s calculating her next move, but she does not yet believe that she can do it unharmed, so she stalls out and gets stuck, crawling back to Mama for some reassurance that she’s OK.
We are all like that sweet baby girl from time to time, aren’t we? We are all playing the grand game of LIFE, and often we have to make decisions in the dark, trusting ourselves that we are doing the right thing based on the information we have. No matter how deeply confusing each decision is, if we truly believe in and trust ourselves in the way that we do when we walk down the street to get an ice cream, then what could we truly be capable of?
We can think in “limitless” or “limited” ways, and because each of us has our own free will, we each get to choose. It seems the “limited” view simply lacks belief in oneself, in my humble opinion. The “limitless” view is just what it sounds like, but it sure requires a whooooole lot of belief. And to build belief, we must build Direct Experience.
Whoa. That’s a lot to take in, I know, but you are a champion for sticking with me here. Feel free to take another Five Breath Break if needed, because we are going to back these ideas up with scientific proof in the next section of this newsletter.
Are you truly aware of how powerful (y)our thoughts are? When we tell ourselves stories about why we “can not do the thing”, we are thinking in limited ways. When we think like that, what is the re-action from the action of our thinking? Flip it around to the limitless view, and what does that look like?
To better understand, let’s talk about how truly powerful our thoughts are using science from one of my personal heroes, Dr. Masaru Emoto.
“Dr. Masaru Emoto, the Japanese scientist who revolutionized the idea that our thoughts and intentions impact the physical realm, is one of the most important water researchers the world has known. For over 20 years until he passed away in 2014, he studied the scientific evidence of how the molecular structure in water transforms when it is exposed to human words, thoughts, sounds and intentions.” - The Wellness Enterprise
Over 20 years of experimentation, Dr. Emoto measured and proved that thoughts physically influence the molecular structure of water. The TL;DR version is that when participants in each study thought “happy” thoughts toward the water, snowflakes crystalized and were observed. When thinking “sad” thoughts to the water, its molecular structure became… well, you can the screen shot above.
We can estimate the the average human body is made of about 60% water. As we each traverse our roads through life, we are constantly thinking about what we are doing and experiencing. Some of those thoughts resonate deeply enough within us to become our beliefs, the core of who we are and who we will become while holding those beliefs as the basis of our actions. If our thoughts & beliefs can do what we see they do to water, and each of our bodies is more than half water… well, we begin to understand the true power of our thoughts and beliefs from a molecular level.
Now that we’ve seen the “essence” of the power of our thoughts, expand your observations outward and upward and apply this thinking to everything. What did you find?
If the research on thoughts and water is something you want to dive deeper into on your own, you absolutely should! Understanding this basic fact, and beginning your own practice of utilizing it will absolutely transform your life in ways that you might currently not be able to imagine. Below are some resources on Dr. Emoto’s work for you to dive into whenever you feel the pull of interest.

Thank you for still being here with me. We’ve reached the end. Woooo HOO! If this information has been of interest to you, I humbly ask you to subscribe to this newsletter, and to share it as widely as you would like to. We are building a community of thinkers to change the world at a molecular level, together.

This week’s practice is the “Five Breath Break”, and congratulations, you’ve already practiced multiple times over the course of this article. Did taking a moment to focus on your breath bring you more focus and the ability to retain this densely packed information? How did it make your body feel? How did it make your mind feel? Were you able to completely still the waters of your mind in only five breaths? Don’t worry if you weren’t, it takes practice.
Our minds are like the ocean, and our thoughts are like waves. During periods of high wind, it’s easy to be swept out into the sea of our own minds if we do not know how to still our own waters. It is only in the stillness of the water that we can properly see our own reflection.
You are loved and believed in beyond all limits.
Until next week, my dear family ~
