Observing Dogs and Hue-Mans to Understand the Evolution of Perception
#43 - You and your dog exist in different mental dimensions of the same space.
“Not only did he learn by experience, but instincts long dead became alive again.”
—Jack London ~ Call of the Wild
Imagine This Scenario:
You're on a cold morning walk with your dog and at some point it stops to relieve itself. You pull a bag from your pocket, pick it up, and carry it away with you to dispose of properly.
No one who saw this situation happen would bat an eye about it. They would thank you for cleaning your dogs waste and call you a responsible citizen.
Now imagine what would happen if you did the same thing on your walk.
If you did, attention from onlookers would be on you from every direction. Wide-eyed Hue-Mans would point and whisper to each other in disbelief, and you would be arrested on site.
Now answer why that is. Why would you get arrested for relieving yourself on the street when everyone sees it as perfectly normal behavior for dogs?
Perception Matters:
Processing and understanding experience is how we evolve. Beings at different levels of Conscious Evolution experience the same world within different dimensions of perception.
Dogs and Hue-Mans are both Conscious Beings but we live in different dimensions of thought. And because our perceptive capability differs, what dogs do with their lives is limited compared to what Hue-Mans can.
Observe Consciousness expressing itself through the life-force of your dog and you will easily spot the evolution in your capability.
Your physical stature alone heightens your perception of life. Your dog still sniffs the ground on four feet while you have evolved into a bipedal creature with a higher view of the world.
From the perspective offered by "The Dog Experience", Consciousness works within the Reactive Mind almost exclusively. But as it lives "The Hue-Man Experience", it can work from the Reactive or the Conscious Mind.
Your dog's perception is locked to the Earth, but you have the ability to reach toward the stars.
Reactive Mind - 2nd Dimensional Consciousness
Observation of Stimulus > Re-Action
Conscious Mind - 3rd Dimensional Consciousness
Observation of Stimulus > Conscious Choice > Re-Action
Sit outside with your dog and you will see how the sensory experience it is having triggers its Reactive Mind without Conscious input.
It darts to tree squirrels whenever it sees one. It lunges at slinky neighborhood cats, and barks at passing cars.
The dog is not choosing to act when it sees a critter. It is automatically re-acting to everything it sees without thinking.
Observe, Update, Repeat:
"With great power comes great responsibility."
—Uncle Ben, Spiderman
Your power of cognition works at a greater capacity than your dog's because your brain is larger, has more folds with more neurons, and a more developed pre-frontal cortex.
The extra capacity in your brain enables you to perceive solutions to problems in a greater way than your dog can. You are capable of a higher dimension of thought, and you must wield your power with honor.
Not only are you able to observe the problem in front of you, but to observe yourself observing the problem as well. Your dog is not capable of this level of perception.
If your dog has an accident in the house when you are away, you might shout and strike them as a form of “punishment” if you emotionally re-act to their mistake without thinking.
But if you use your Conscious Mind to observe how scared the dog would be, and how you would feel about yourself if you struck it during a fit of rage over a small mistake, perhaps you would instead choose to handle the situation as hue-manely as possible.
Since your Conscious Mind enables you to choose how to behave based on self-observation, you can use the same 3rd Dimensional thinking skills to teach your dog how to be.
Your dog has been chasing that same squirrel in every direction around the yard for months now and it will continue to think 2 Dimensionally in the future if you don't teach it to evolve.
You can overwrite your dog's Instinctual Will with yours instead to get it to do whatever you want. And in the process, you teach your dog to think more 3rd Dimensionally by programming it to observe its own behavior to make a conscious choice before re-acting.
Where in the past it would have chased each squirrel it spotted, your training teaches it to consciously choose your direction over its instinct. And it becomes more Hue-Man in the process.
While you aren’t granting your dog true Free Will of choice, you are teaching it how to choose.
And by repetitively training your dog's impulse control, it will begin consciously choosing not to re-act to other stimuli as well.
You teach your dog a greater power of thinking than it started its wild life with during your time together, and in return it shows you how to embody the force of Unconditional Love.
You and your dog are both students and teachers of each other at the same time.
And think about it. Compared to deer or bobcats, dogs seem significantly more Hue-Man, don't they? They have been living by our side for a long time now.
It’s as if you are a steward of conscious evolution in your dog, helping it to reach the next dimensional level of life by showing it how you live.
And your dog shows you how Unconditional Love transforms your heart through its action towards you. And in the process you become more whole.
Yet at the end of the day, it’s still a dog and you're still you. And when you’re out walking and it squats on the street, you pick it up because you understand when the animal has got to go, it just does it.
And because you are civilized and understand what is sanitary, you use the toilet instead of the street. And as you do, you think about what life-forms in higher dimensions of Consciousness have taken your hand to usher you up to the next level.
This Week's Practice:
Observe yourself and your behavior to see without judgement if you are consciously thinking or unconsciously re-acting when something external triggers you.
No one else needs to know what type of work you are internally doing, but you must be honest with yourself in your observations. Are you making decisions from your Conscious Mind, or are you simply re-acting to everything all the time?
When you spot yourself re-acting to something without thinking first, take note of the event instead of pretending it didn’t happen. Consciously acknowledge what you did by facing the mirror within.
Next time something similar occurs you will remember to pause to think before you re-act like that again because you will not forget your acknowledgement.
You are playing the Game of Life with greater stakes than the dogs. You are capable of building worlds or tearing them down. And with your great power comes the great responsibility of choosing your path.
You squander your power through endless re-action while others cultivate theirs through impulse control.
How would you rather be?
Go forth and make it so.
Such a real article. I have always told my daughters, their lovely pets will not learn English, so you will have to learn dog, cat, Guinnea pig, etc. I tell them, Miss Furly(cat) is 18yrs old now and cannot say a word of English, you would think after 18 years of always being around us, they would pick up something. And then, after spending 18yrs with her, all I know is she likes cuddles and when she is hungry, that's it, I also have made effort to speak cat. In the mornings before I leave for work, I ask all the home pets what their plans are for the day ahead, all I get are blank stares, so they obviously live in the now, and take each day as it comes. That must be why they are always happy, because they live in the now, not focusing on their past, or worried about their future.
Thanks, now I’m going to spend the rest of the day thinking about what the “pooping on the street” equivalent of humans is to higher dimensional beings.. higher dimensional beings be like “that’s a good dooky, boy, good job!” every time we relieve ourselves of self-importance 💩
This week’s post reminds me of two teachings, from Pythagoras and Ra.
Pythagoras: “Consciousness sleeps in stone, dreams in plants, wakes up in animals and becomes self-aware in humans.” 🤯
Ra teaches that the reincarnation process is a system of “love gathering,” for the purpose of evolving consciousness. Ra says that pets are given love (attention, direction, companionship) by humans which propels their evolution more than the animals in the wild. Basically, it’s a boost in conscious evolution to live a life as a pet because humans are great teachers whether they’re petty tyrants or loving masters.
On a cosmic level why do humans have pets? Maybe it’s exactly as you wrote, to practice and be exposed to “unconditional love.”
It really does make me wonder how that relationship exists higher up in the chain! Thank you again for serving up another tasty morsel of wisdom.
