Hey thanks for this! This is the part of riding a bike and in general, being in nature that I really love. I'm paying only for the experience with my own efforts, and ignoring all other material things in the world. If a friend is with me, it usually enhances the experience to share it. Thanks for talking about how to create those moments day to day. That's the difficult part, making us want to take a vacation from our lives.
I wholeheartedly agree with you on your comments about cycling! Cars are fully enclosed, and it's nice to go trek around in a vehicle, protected from the elements by steel and glass. But on a bicycle or a motorcycle, you are not removed from the environment - you become a part of it, and I feel that's where the real connection with nature comes from. Our bicycles allow us to get off road into the woods, rail trails, and that's where the most magical cycling experience I have had were. But even riding across Midwest states on open highways surrounded by only corn and soy was still magical.
I truly feel that when we live mindfully, life becomes like a vacation all the time. No longer do we keep ourselves in jobs that we don't like, we take control of our worlds, and all of a sudden we are living the life we once dreamed of. I wish this for you and every other sentient being everywhere.
Thank you for reading and for sharing your thoughts. I highly appreciate your time.
