“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
—Oscar Wilde
You've heard the saying, "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts", yeah?
Today we will use music to illustrate why it's important to be uniquely yourself.
Play on, player
Music shows you what it sounds like when players combine their parts to create a sound unattainable by the individual, alone.
Each player contributes a uniquely individualized part to the composition of a song. And the song wouldn't be whole without each player doing their respective thing.
What would Queen’s “Another One Bites The Dust” sound like without its iconic bass line? Or “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac, without the smoky ethereal voice of Stevie Nicks?
A Classical Example
Listen to the melody of Debussy's "Préludes - Book 1, L. 117 - VIII", played alone on the piano. It's a beautiful piece of music, which sounds lovely when played by one person.
But when you add more orchestral players to the mix, what happens to the resulting sound? How does the collaborative expression make you feel, in comparison to the single player?
Each player adds their unique part to the overall mix, creating a layered and nuanced sound which could not be attained without collaboration. And you can feel the emotive power for yourself when you listen.
You are the only you
This publication has written extensively in the past about how we're all the same thing—Consciousness. How we are special because we are the same. And yes, that's true. This is the common ground we stand on, together.
But it's important to note that while we're experiencing Life as individuals, we each have a unique part to play in the grand scheme of things. So this means we are also special because we are different right now.
And when you are being your honest self, your true capacity for societal contribution naturally emerges within you. Your true purpose for being blooms in your heart.
Since you and I are the same at our base level, Conscious Hue-Man BEings, but different in our perspectives and appearances, we each serve as mirrors for each other to learn and grow, together.
The Game of Life is meant to be played by differing individuals, together. And each is meant to shine in their own way.
Life is a Symphony
Imagine you're sitting in a concert hall, attending a Symphony. When each player of the orchestra plays in tune and on time, what is the natural result?
When you've built enough experience to show yourself who you truly are, and you believe with your whole heart in yourself, your ability to play your unique part in Life naturally blooms within you. And everyone else benefits as a result.
Your heart is an intuitive organ, and it guides you to being who you came to Earth to be. And by being your honest self, you serve every other person on this planet by showing them what it looks like.
Since we are the same at our core, but different on the surface, we should each fit together like a jigsaw puzzle of musical notes, to vibrate a symphonic life of wholeness for every body.
If everyone was being uniquely themself at this time, following the guidance of their intuition, the natural result would be a beautiful life for every living soul. Earth would be Utopia.
But the whole does not evolve from the top down. It evolves one by one, at an individual level. And each of us is capable of playing our unique part, though some will vehemently tell you otherwise.
You are the only one capable of being you. You are uniquely you, and that’s truer than true.
You are enough.
And I love you.
I'm loving listening to David Garrett's music.
Absolute perfection. So much love for you, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful soul<3
