Of all the bodily experiences born through being Human, feelings are perhaps the most compelling. We crave them, run from them, and we often pay to create them.
Feelings are compressed manifestations of thoughts, memories, and experiences. Things happen as you live your life, and an integral part of being human means you will feel all sorts of ways about these things once they occur.
But feelings are like flowers, swaying in the wind. And below their stems, they connect to a system of roots from which their outward manifestations originate.
When a colorful feeling commands your attention, whether it is positive or negative, it is necessary to look beneath the surface to fully understand what it is pointing to. You must expand your awareness inward to see the roots of the flower.
The roots contain the answers your consciousness wants you to understand in order to evolve, using the feeling as a guide. And your system will continue manifesting compelling feelings to move your attention inward until you choose to dig.
Digging deeper
Flowers sway in the wind, but their roots do not. Similarly, feelings swing unconscious awareness like a pendulum between what we call positive and negative states.
Constantly being swung back and forth by what happens for you in life is extremely tiring. This unconscious action zaps your precious creative energy, leaving you feeling scattered.
Rather than using your energy to create beauty in your world, you then use it to create stories that explain complex feelings, forming a draining energetic loop you can easily get caught in for long periods of time.
However, when you dig down to the root of the feeling to understand what it's trying to tell you, you exit these draining loops. And from this conscious perspective you're able to witness feelings as loving teachers, rather than unconsciously using them to hold yourself hostage.
And no longer being a hostage, you're free to be in this ever-evolving now moment as a conscious creator. You create what you want more of in your life, rather than what you don't want.
Exercise—Dig to the root:
When a compelling feeling commands your attention, take a moment with yourself. Get comfortable, close your eyes and breathe.
Observe the feeling as if it were a flower. Tell no stories to yourself about the flower, just patiently be with it.
Then, direct your awareness to the stem, and trace it down into the earth to find the root.
What do you notice as you observe the root? Is there a buried energy which needs your loving awareness placed upon it? Can you see how the root manifested the feeling you have been experiencing?
Can you now release the root cause of the feeling with gratitude for how it served you in achieving this new state of awareness? And can you now fill the space where the root was with unconditional love?
Do you feel the call?
If you just tried the exercise above, you just did an energy work session on yourself. How do you feel now?
And if you are feeling called to travel deeper inward by working with a loving, impartial guide, please send me an email, and let's schedule a session together.
